Alabama sunsets ... just beautiful!

I didn't realize I would find such beauty here. But in the "mountains" there are wonderful views, rivers, waterfalls, and valleys. This shot was near a hairpin turn (a REAL hairpin turn ... I've never seen one so sharp!) where a home was built off of the point of the turn and overlooked the span of a deep valley. It's amazing people can raise children out here without losing them!

Couldn't believe this! Such violence!! It was a friendly little follow-the-leader line that somehow went very wrong when the last one decided to walk on top of the one in front!!!

One of the Sweetest Honors

As much as I love photography, I really shy away from wedding photos. Honestly, I'm afraid something will go terribly wrong and the couple will be disappointed. In fact, I don't think I ever would have done one except that a friend begged, begged, begged me to do it. I guess I should thank her ... this was number 5!

Anyway, this past weekend was such a sweet honor to capture. This couple has been married for years, but now that they have become Christians, decided to have a ceremony and have the wedding they never did. The preparations probably blessed me more than the event itself. The husband was so caught up in having a special day for his wife and showing her how much he loves her. It was beautiful.

And speaking of beautiful? The vows they wrote to each other were just that. I don't know that there was a dry eye in the house that day. Just their words were inspiring, and it was truly a blessing to be involved in such a special life moment as this. 

The skies were beautiful both to and from Boston. There was one very strange part about flying in, however. At one point coming into the city, all the lights disappeared and we were out over the water for what seemed like a long time. It was very silent and eerie.

Boston ... yet another intriguing city with so much old mixed in with the new!

The holocaust memorial in Boston brought me to tears.

The walkway leads you through gas chambers (one for each concentration camp). Quotes from the stories of people are on the walls and engraved in the stones. I didn't realize this until the end, but if you look down through the grates, there are thousands of little lights symbolizing the eyes of those who died.

The numbers issued to people during the holocaust were etched in the glass walls of the chambers.

I didn't understand this well yet (shoah), but I intend to ask my Jewish friend more questions. My heart was sorrowed as well as touched.

Breakfast

This was too weird ... look what happened to the egg in our microwave! We laughed over that one for a while. It looks like a bird's nest!

Contemplation

I just found this photo tonight ... didn't even realize it was in with the pack of pictures from Grandpa's visit in September, 2004. Thus I fully support my strange claim to KEEP EVERYTHING ... I'm a digital packrat, but it pays off. 

SHRINKY DINKS!

A school project (for junior high) had both of them staring at the oven ... an odd sight in my house!

The kitchen queens are at it again, this time with the hit "Martian Pizza" complete with a green crust and purple sauce!

Chicago ... one of my favorites!

Who knew that airports could be so artistic? I've seen some great ones in the past year. This one appealed to my sense of design with colorblocks flanking either side of the moving walkway.

Texas, baby!

On my way to Tulsa ... I get to fly into Chicago! Suddenly I find myself in Chicago an awful lot! The kids would be jealous. They loved being here last fall and would give anything to come back again.
